The Waveshare screen does have an additional micro USB port for power only, so I suppose I could theoretically use a buck converter to bring that 12v power output down to 5v and power the screen from that, but even so, it's not clear to me whether this would resolve the overall under voltage situation for the Pi 5.
I am using an xy-3606 based buck converter to power my PI 5 from 12V. No low voltage warnings yet
